Germany raises taxes on tobacco products "for the first time" in seven years, affecting prices of e-cigarette products

Germany has raised taxes on tobacco products for the first time in seven years and, on average, a pack of 20 cigarettes now costs 0.10 euros more than the year before, according to LR Online.

From 2023, the price will increase again by 0.10 euros, and in 2025 and 2026, the price will increase again by 0.15 euros.

With Germany's decision to tax vaping liquids, the price of vaping products will also rise. From July 1, 2022, the previous price of 10ml nebulizer products was about 4 euros, the tax will be raised to 1.60 euros, and the price will be about 5.60 euros. In 2024, the tax will rise to 2.00 euros, which means that the nebulizer costs around 6 euros. In 2025 and 2026, the tax will increase by a further €0.60, bringing the total product price to €6.60 and €7.20 respectively.

In addition, another new measure of the Tobacco Law, which came into effect on January 1, 2022, is the prohibition of outdoor tobacco advertising, which applies to "traditional" tobacco products such as cigarettes. At the same time, this regulation will be effective from January 1, 2023. Effective for heat not burn products, and effective for electronic atomization products from January 1, 2024.
