Spain approves new draft law: e-cigarette shops will close within five years
The Spanish government has approved a new draft law to regulate the sale of e-cigarettes.
That means vaping shops will disappear within five years, and tobacconists will be the only exporters of the product.
The law aims to align e-cigarette standards with traditional tobacco products.
Quality control, advertising and prevention of online sales and availability to children are all covered by this measure.
The government said the move would bring Spain into compliance with European regulations on the sale of e-cigarettes.
It added that the safety of consumers will be assured as the new regulations only allow the sale of approved products.
It also aims to crack down on any illegal sale of vaping material.
The new draft law now needs to be approved by Congress before it can take effect.
