In Nielsen's latest analysis of convenience store data, the Vuse brand has extended its lead to 12 percent compared to Juul's market share.
The analysis, released Tuesday by Nielsen, covers the four weeks to Oct. 8. Vuse's market share rose to 40% from 39.7% in the previous report, while Juul's fell from 28.1% to 28%.
According to Barclays, Nielsen mainly covers large chains. For smaller chains, the group extrapolates trends, which is why Nielsen doesn't see an immediate trend change, according to the Winston-Salem Journal.
The specter of a possible ban on Juul Labs Inc.'s e-cigarettes on U.S. retail shelves has accelerated Vuse's market share gains in recent months.
Meanwhile, No. 3 NJoy was flat at 2.8%, while Fontem Ventures' blu eCigs was flat at 1.4%.
Juul's 4-week dollar sales in the latest report have fallen from a 50.2% increase in the August 10, 2019 report to an 18% decline in the latest report.
In contrast, Reynolds' Vuse was up 42% in its latest report, while NJoy was up 5.9% and blu eCigs was down 30.9%.
