According to ABS-CBN News, the Philippine Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) will today begin a public consultation on the development of Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) for the country's new e-cigarette law.
DTI Deputy Minister Ruth Castelo said: "For private stakeholders interested in the development of the IRR, they are included and we will consider all comments entered or sent.
The Vaped Nicotine Products Regulatory Act of the Philippines governs the import, manufacture, sale, distribution and use of vaping products. Among other measures, it calls for lowering the vaping age from 21 to 18.
After the FDA shifted e-cigarette regulation, the DTI was tasked with developing the IRR.
The proposal was submitted to the presidential palace on June 24, days before then-President Rodrigo Duterte stepped down. The proposed legislation expired in July after the executive branch failed to act within 30 days.
