A lawmaker in Scotland wants to ban the public display of e-cigarettes in retail stores. Scottish Greens MSP Gillian Mackay wants retailers to treat them like cigarettes and hide them.
“This goes beyond the days of smoking behind bike sheds — it’s a multimillion-dollar industry that’s leading to disaster for the country’s health,” McKay said. "This is a ticking time bomb, and until we know more, neither I nor anyone else should be asked to accept that risk."
She has written to shops and vaping manufacturers before taking her campaign to the Scottish Parliament, the Daily Record reported.
Greens health spokesman McKay said there were growing concerns about a spiraling number of minors being lured by intentional sweet tooth tactics to market products.
She called on retailers to lead by example, writing to them urging them to hide their products.
