Mom Kong, director of operations for Healthy Cambodia, has called on authorities to take legal action against those promoting e-cigarette sales on social media, despite several recent high-profile raids.
According to AsiaNews, Kong said that the confiscation and incineration of e-cigarettes could help reduce the use of e-cigarettes among young people.
"I applaud the authorities' willingness to destroy confiscated stockpiles, as it shows their commitment to combating the power of these devices," he added.
His statement came days after the Department of Commerce's Consumer Protection, Competition and Anti-Fraud Directorate, in cooperation with the National Narcotics Bureau and the Phnom Penh Municipal Police Commission, destroyed 7,200 boxes, or 288 boxes, of the confiscated products.
The incinerated products were confiscated during raids on Phnom Penh warehouses in early November.
