Stingfree technology reduces the burning and irritation on the gums that are typical of regular snus and oral nicotine products, according to a press release. Several e-commerce distributors and stores are now selling the first product in an upcoming line of tobacco-free nicotine pouches in different flavors and strengths.

Several studies have shown that many snus users suffer from damage and changes to the gums, especially where the pouch comes into direct contact with the gums.

The US/EU patented Stingfree technology is designed to counteract this and the associated burning/irritation by placing an impermeable barrier on the gum side of the pouch. A large percentage of snus users dislike when nicotine pouches and snus sting/burn and irritate the gums.

This was determined by Sting Free AB in a 2022 comprehensive survey of more than 1,000 Swedish snus users (almost 40% of whom were women). Of those surveyed, 67% of women and 53% of men found the burning/stinging sensation unpleasant whenever it stings.

A recent survey of U.S. women investigated why women use much less smokeless tobacco products, such as nicotine pouches and snus, than men. A major factor that comes out of the reactions is the burning sensation and mouth irritation these products cause, with reviews like irritating, burning, hurting my gums, etc. Other factors were negative stereotypes of smoke-free users, the deadly misconception that smoke-free products are more dangerous than vaping and smoking, and unfamiliar delivery methods.
