The Malaysian Ministry of Health intends to submit a new smoking product control bill to Congress in May, especially to strengthen the control of nicotine-containing e-cigarettes.
Malaysian Health Minister Zaliha recently issued a document stating that the new bill aims to ensure comprehensive control of preparations used in e-cigarettes, that is, nicotine-containing liquids and gels.
Zaliha said: "The (Malaysian) Ministry of Health has convened all relevant units for this new bill, including members of parliament, non-governmental organizations, professional organizations, and smoking cessation organizations to participate in a meeting to discuss the formulation of relevant bill regulations.
In addition, Zaliha also said that through strengthening publicity activities, including cooperation with the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, the Youth Council and relevant non-governmental organizations, it will raise awareness of the health hazards of smoking among young people.
