Philip Morris International (PMI) has started selling KT&G - lil SOLID Ez new smoke-free device in Serbia, supported by IQOS. The collaboration builds on an agreement signed between PMI and KT&G, a leading Korean tobacco and nicotine product producer, in January 2023.
The lil SOLID Ez is a new generation compact device that heats evenly with the help of stainless steel needles and does not burn the tobacco from the inside, creating an aerosol, but does not create tobacco smoke, ash or flames in the process. Aerosols contain an average of 95% less harmful substances than cigarette smoke. The device complements PMI Serbia's existing range of tobacco-free smoke-free alternatives, which include the IQOS or SOLID systems for tobacco heating, as well as VEEV and VEEBA e-cigarettes. A growing number of smoke-free products in PMI's portfolio are intended for smokers of legal age who would otherwise continue to smoke in order to replace cigarettes with less harmful alternatives as quickly as possible.
KT&G products sold by PMI outside of Korea, such as lil SOLID Ez, have been carefully evaluated by the competent regulatory agencies that are introduced into the market, and tested according to PMI's high scientific standards to confirm that there is no burning and a significant reduction compared to cigarettes Emission of harmful chemicals.
This is an important step towards a smoke-free future and a continuation of the success of PMI's existing line of smoke-free products. As of March 31, 2023, there are 25.8 million IQOS device users worldwide, of which 18.5 million smokers of legal age have fully switched to IQOS and stopped smoking.
It should of course be remembered that smoke-free products are not without risks, as they release nicotine, which leads to addiction.
