According to a recent report by the Turkish media Tunagazete, the Turkish customs enforcement agency seized a case involving a huge amount of e-cigarette smuggling in Istanbul’s Pendik Port. They conducted a detailed inspection of a truck that departed from Germany, transited through Italy, and entered the port of Roro, Turkey. As a result, 43,200 illegal e-cigarettes were seized.
After discovering the suspicious vehicle, the law enforcement officers used an X-ray machine to scan the truck and found that there was a suspicious density area in the truck. The official customs declaration stated that it was carrying "batteries", but after on-site inspection, it was found that there were a large number of bags in the trailer.
In the end, law enforcement officers seized 43,200 e-cigarettes, which set a record for the number of smuggled e-cigarettes in Turkey. According to the survey, the market value of these e-cigarettes is about 25 million Turkish liras (about 6.67 million yuan).
At present, Türkiye's Anadolu District Prosecutor's Office has announced that it will investigate this.
