According to the Thai Ministry of Commerce, introducing or exporting e-cigarettes is illegal.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Commerce in 2014, electronic cigarettes and related products are explicitly listed as one of the prohibited imports. Violation of the regulations may result in up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 500000 Thai baht, or both. In addition, there may be violations involving the Customs Law, with a maximum penalty of 10 years imprisonment or a fine of up to 500000 Thai baht, or both.
For the possession, concealment, sale, assistance in the sale, transportation, purchase, or possession or sale of electronic cigarettes, if introduced into Thailand without proper customs procedures, they will face imprisonment of not more than 5 years or a maximum fine of 4 times the total value of the item, or both.
Electronic cigarettes are increasingly receiving attention in the Thai market, and government departments have taken strict measures. The action of blocking the website aims to curb illegal e-cigarette sales, protect market order, and maintain a fair competitive environment.
