According to French media RTL, in an exclusive interview with French Prime Minister Elisabeth Borne on September 3, she announced plans to ban the sale of disposable e-cigarettes. In May last year, former Health Minister François Braun expressed the idea of banning these products.
Elizabeth Bone said the measure would be included in an upcoming national anti-smoking plan.
Elizabeth Bowen did not announce when the ban would take effect. According to previous reports, French MPs submitted an e-cigarette ban bill on July 12 and plan to pass the law by the end of this year.
According to the Anti-Tobacco Alliance, disposable vaping products are much cheaper than cigarettes (up to 10 euros cheaper), and 13% of 13-16 year olds have tried disposable vaping products. Elizabeth Bohn believes that the products are getting young people into bad habits: "They're getting young people into bad habits. That's how they get into smoking."
