】According to ANTV media reports, the Ho Chi Minh City Market Administration announced that it had inspected and handled nearly 1,600 market violation cases in the third quarter of 2023, an increase of 29.92% over the same period last year. The cases investigated mainly focused on the following three categories of commodities - smuggled tobacco (including e-cigarettes), as well as food, cosmetics and medicines.
The market management team dispatched and executed 16 violation cases involving smuggled tobacco and new generation tobacco (i.e. e-cigarettes), and seized more than 400 packs of smuggled cigarettes and more than 2,100 e-cigarettes and e-cigarette juice.
For food commodities, the management department has handled nearly 130 cases of violations and temporarily seized nearly 50,000 illegal food products, including candies, wine, beer, dairy products and other foods. The value of the goods involved is approximately 160 million VND. .
Regarding cosmetics and drugs, the market management department has investigated 116 violations and temporarily detained more than 196,000 illegal products. According to reports, among these illegal goods worth VND 41.3 billion, 15.9 billion VND were smuggled and imported, more than VND 20 billion of goods were of unknown origin, and 4.2 billion VND were counterfeit goods.
