According to Antaranews, the Indonesian Consumer Foundation (YLKI) demands that the advertising of addictive products such as tobacco be strengthened in the upcoming Health Bill.

Tulus Abadi, the day-to-day manager of the foundation, revealed, “Strict broadcasting time is set for tobacco advertisements, from midnight to 3 a.m., to prevent children from being exposed to tobacco advertisements.”

According to Tulus, the current smoking rate among children aged 12 to 15 has reached 9.1%, and if it is not controlled, it may increase to 15%.

Regarding the advertising of e-cigarettes, Tulus said that there are currently no relevant regulations. Since the current consumption volume and frequency of e-cigarettes is alarming, YLKI has expressed great concern about this. The organization also calls for a ban on loose tobacco, which it believes makes it easier for teenagers and poor families to buy it, and is very concerned. In addition, pictures of health warnings should account for 90% of the packaging.

"This will allow consumers to obtain more clear and clear information about the dangers of tobacco." Finally, Tulus emphasized that the purpose of strictly controlling addictive products is to protect the public from serious health problems caused by smoking.
