According to Norwegian news network bt.no, Norway will ban the sale of menthol cigarettes and pop-up cigarettes in 2024, which will make it the last country in Europe to ban such products. At the same time, Norway will also ban the sale of flavored e-cigarettes.
Norway is one of the few countries in Europe that still allows menthol and pop cigarettes. But starting next year, this situation will completely change, and the sale of flavored cigarettes and cigarettes with "exploding beads" will disappear from the Norwegian tobacco market. The flavor ban means that only tobacco-flavoured e-cigarettes or refills can be sold on the market.
In fact, it has been a long time since menthol cigarettes were banned in Norway. As part of the EU Tobacco Directive (TPD), the Norwegian government has previously stated that it will implement this rule in 2021. But the plan was delayed due to obstacles in the European Union and other countries.
The Norwegian Ministry of Health and Social Services expects the ban to come into effect in 2024, but a specific date has not been set.
