According to a Reuters report on December 11, Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador said on Monday (December 11) that he planned to Introduce a bill to ban e-cigarettes and vaping before leaving office in 2024, after an attempt was blocked by the Supreme Court.
"These things have been proven to be harmful to health," he told a regular news conference on Monday.
Mexico has reportedly implemented one of the world's strictest anti-tobacco laws since passing a bill at the beginning of the year that would ban smoking in public places, including streets.
In addition, Mexico has banned the import of e-cigarettes.
Global criticism of e-cigarettes has grown as the nicotine-containing devices have become popular among young people. Australia announced an import ban last month.
