According to a report by Turkish media sondakika on July 5, Murat Emir, deputy director of the Turkish Center for Health Protection, said that although the country bans the import of e-cigarettes, e-cigarettes are sold on various websites. At the same time, Murat Emir also submitted written questions to the Turkish Grand National Assembly, requiring the Ministry of Commerce to answer.
Murat Amir asked, the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Commerce have clearly ordered e-cigarettes to be "prohibited from entering the country", but why can e-cigarettes be tolerated on shopping websites that are not sold publicly? Why tolerate advertising and clearance on dozens of websites?
Murat Amir said that Turkey banned the import and sale of e-cigarettes from 2020, and all necessary materials must be publicly sold on shopping websites. And the only preventive measures taken by the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Commerce are to publish advertisements and circulars, which they think can solve this problem. But now that e-cigarette products are at your fingertips, it means that they have not checked and taken responsibility.
Murat Emir believes that relevant departments should take necessary measures, especially prohibiting advertisements on the Internet that support the health of e-cigarettes. In addition, the location of sale should be determined and deterrent penalties imposed.
Murat Emir also asked the Ministry of Trade the following questions:
How to clear the customs of e-cigarette products that are prohibited from being imported and sold?
What inspections will be carried out on the import of e-cigarettes in 2022?
Did the inspection result impose sanctions on the e-commerce company?
If implemented, which company was fined how much?
