According to media site 1prime, Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a bill that limits the amount of personal possession of nicotine products that are not labeled in compliance with Russian law, and has now been published on the official legal information portal.
The bill sets limits on the quantity of unlabeled nicotine products carried by individuals in order to comply with Russian law.
The annexes provided by the bill show that the illicit market for e-liquid and disposable nicotine delivery devices (disposable electronic cigarettes) has grown by an average of 20% per year, accounting for about 90% of the total market for such products in Russia by mid-2022.
The law aims to crack down on illegal trade in similar products.
According to the document, individuals over the age of 18 can now carry no more than 200 heated tobacco products, no more than 5 units of other nicotine-containing products (excluding heated tobacco products), and a total of no more than 20ml of nicotine-containing liquid. At the same time, there is also a limit on the total weight of unmarked non-tobacco heated mixtures transported, which must not exceed 250 grams.
The restrictions are similar to current regulations on tobacco products, where individuals over the age of 18 are currently allowed to carry no more than 200 unmarked cigarettes or 50 unmarked cigars within Russia.
In addition, the total weight of tobacco products carried must not exceed 250 grams per person.
