According to the Irish Sun on September 24, distributor Superdrug has confirmed that it will no longer sell disposable e-cigarettes in all its stores in the UK and Ireland.
There is news that disposable e-cigarettes may soon be banned entirely in Ireland. Disposable e-cigarettes are difficult to recycle because they contain batteries that must be disassembled and recycled separately. Recently, Health Minister Stephen Donnelly said he wanted to ban all disposable e-cigarettes. He said he would target flavors and points of sale in stores and was planning second legislation to crack down on e-cigarettes, restrict flavors and advertising in stores.
Previously, Superdrug did not sell disposable e-cigarettes online but sold an average of 1,300 units a week in its stores. They now plan to clear their physical store inventory by the end of the year. Superdrug's action means the retailer will no longer sell brands such as Vuse Go and Flavaah Bars.
