According to the latest data, 97% of teen e-cigarette users have used flavored products in the past month, and their use has increased significantly among middle and high school students in the past three years.
Data from the American Academy of Pediatrics shows that the use of flavored e-cigarette liquids has fueled the e-cigarette craze. In the past month, 97% of teen e-cigarette users have used flavored products. Between 2017 and 2019, e-cigarette use among high school students and junior high school students more than doubled and tripled respectively.
Since the enactment of the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act of 2009, flavors have been banned in traditional cigarettes. Officials said the ban reduced the number of cigarettes smoked by teenagers by 58 percent and reduced the overall likelihood of smoking in that age group by 17 percent.
