Starting in November 2024, e-cigarettes containing added or natural sweeteners and sugar liquids will no longer be allowed in Lithuania.

According to Lithuanian media reports, starting from November 2024, Lithuania will no longer allow e-cigarettes containing added or natural sweeteners and sugar liquids.

Last Thursday (December 21), the Lithuanian Parliament passed a bill banning the import of e-cigarettes and their cartridges containing added or natural sweeteners and sugar to Lithuania starting from November 2024. 98 members of parliament supported the amendment to the Tobacco, Tobacco Products and Related Products Control Act, with no objections, while four members chose to abstain.

Laima Nagienė, a member of the democratic party "For Lithuania", proposes to ban the import of e-cigarettes with natural or added sweeteners and sugars as soon as possible:

"How long until we stop hurting our children? Parents are looking forward to this law."

Currently, it is prohibited to add vitamins or other substances that are beneficial or less harmful to health in tobacco products, including caffeine, taurine and other additives and stimulants related to energy and vitality.

At the same time, the addition of colorings or additives in unburned form that may contain reproductively harmful substances, as well as flavors other than tobacco aroma and taste, are prohibited.
