According to enterprise-tocsin’s report on April 18, the U.S. Mississippi House of Representatives considered more than 60 Senate bills this week, including a bill on e-cigarettes.
Senate Bill 2441 would ban the sale of any alternative nicotine products, such as e-cigarettes or vaping products.
"An act to amend Section 97-32-51 of the Mississippi Code of 1972, to prohibit any person from distributing, selling, or making available any electronic cigarette or electronic device that may be used to deliver ingestible nicotine, or any electronic device used therefor. Powders, components, liquids, capsules, or powders for cigarette or electronic refill device refills; provided for any such product if the manufacturer has submitted a premarket tobacco product application and the application is still under review by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration exception."
The proposal proposes an amendment to create the "Mississippi Tobacco Harm Reduction Act of 2024." However, some people suggested that the amendment had nothing to do with the original bill. After correcting the procedural issues, the bill was finally passed with a vote of 115 to 0 and has now been transferred to the judicial department.
