According to Egyptian media cairo24 reported on April 18, the Egyptian Federation of Industry and Food Chamber of Commerce has set standards and regulations for the sale of heated tobacco and e-cigarettes.
The chairman of the department, Eng Ashraf El Gazairly, received the document sent by the engineer (Khaled Sofi), which revealed the specific contents of the e-cigarette oil. Standards for companies importing and producing e-cigarette oil registered by the Egyptian General Directorate of Standards and Quality are stipulated in accordance with Egyptian Standard No. 1-8205 on General Requirements for Tobacco Substitutes.
According to the content in the document, e-cigarettes need to comply with Ministerial Order No. 101 of 2019; According to Ministerial Order No. 502/2023, the Egyptian National Standard No. 2023/8685 establishing safety requirements for electronic equipment used in e-cigarettes; According to Ministerial Order No. No. 498/2023, the Egyptian national standard No. 2023/8724 establishing general requirements for places where tobacco alternatives are displayed, sold and stored.
In addition, all tasks of registering e-cigarettes and where these products are sold will be assigned to the above-mentioned committee.
