According to Unsertirol24 on June 26, the Bolzano City Council in Italy has passed a motion proposed by Team K, which proposes a complete smoking ban in Bolzano's Lido (public pool area). The ban aims to reduce exposure to passive smoking and promote a healthy lifestyle, and smoking is only allowed in specially designated areas.
Bolzano's Lido (public pool area) is not considered a sports facility, so a complete smoking ban has not been implemented before, which is particularly prone to harmful passive smoking in the case of high visitor numbers.
Team K's city councillor Matthias Cologna said,
"It is very important to protect the public from the hazards of passive smoking, especially in an environment with many children and minors."
The decision fills a gap in the regulations for public baths and bans the use of smoking, e-cigarettes and heated tobacco devices.
The motion received a cross-party majority with only two votes against.
The Bolzano City Government will jointly implement the smoking ban with the Lido and set up designated smoking areas.
