According to a report by Middle East Media Trend News Agency on April 19, Kazakhstan has implemented regulations banning the sale and distribution of e-cigarettes. The news comes from Akorda, the official website of the President of Kazakhstan.
President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev signed the law titled "On the introduction of modifications and additions to certain health regulations of the Republic of Kazakhstan."
"This law (which takes effect 60 days after official announcement) prohibits the sale and distribution of smokeless tobacco products, e-cigarettes, condiments and e-liquids, as well as their advertising," the Acorda website said.
In health legislation earlier this year, Kazakhstan's parliament passed regulations restricting the use of tobacco products. Accordingly, the bill sets forth restrictions on the import, production, sale, and distribution of vaping devices.
Violators carrying out such activities will be subject to criminal liability: the sale of e-cigarettes may result in a prison sentence of up to 50 days; importation and distribution may result in a prison sentence of up to two years; large-scale or repeated offenses committed by criminal gangs may result in a prison sentence of up to 50 days. Resulting in a prison sentence of up to five years.
